The Greatest Compliment

My couple who got married in July picked up their album today. The bride's mother called me to share her feelings regarding the album. She commented how she cried since the album was so beautiful and she just had to call to thank me. Now that is why I do this!!! For me it extends way beyond the fact that I'm trying to provide good customer service. I want people to be moved by the images I capture for them. If I could do this for free (which I did when I was in the military), I would since people's reactions far out weigh any money that I am given. But I do have a family to feed & a mortgage to pay:)! Sigh, if only I could win the lottery:)!

Portrait Time!!

Last week I did portraits for 2 different families...the Robin's & the Calloway's.

The Robins were doing their full family portrait & we opted for an outdoor setting. Thankfully the rain stayed away but many of the areas were wet so note for next time..bring a towel!!! I had alot of fun with them and their doggies!

The Calloways opted for a studio session for their family. Of course the best plans can be thrown off....they arrived with their youngest sleeping and he would not wake up:)! So we improvised & adapted to the situation:)! Thankfully he did wake up later on in the session so we could get some pictures with him awake! Of course as children will do, he decided he wanted in on the pictures when we weren't expecting it as you can see below:)! I had alot of fun with the Calloways who I know actually from attending the Church At The Ridge. This session involved not only the posed shots but I was also able to capture some wonderful candid images.

Merry Christmas!

My favorite Christmas song for awhile now has been "My Grown Up Christmas List"...and exerpt:
"Well heaven only knows
That packages and bows
Can never heal
A hurting human soul

No more lives torn apart
That wars would never start
And time would heal all hearts.
Everyone would have a friend
And right would always win
And love would never end.
This is my grown up Christmas list"

Congratulations to Adeola & Jacob!

Adeola and Jacob were married on 11/24/2007. They choose me to be a part of their special day as their photographer. I had so much fun with them just like I did on their engagement session which was held back in October!

Again, congratulations & I hope God blesses them with a long and happy union:)!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

To all my clients, thank you so much for being a part of McKee Photography & Web Design's first year of operation! It truly means so much to me that you have taken your memories and placed them in my hands! Again, thank you!

I just have to share something really awesome that our church did this weekend. Instead of taking an offering, they gave an offering... Yes, instead of us giving the church money, the church gave it's people money. WOW!!!! All he asked is that we don't spend it on ourselves & don't give it back to the church. We are suppose to give it to someone else. I just thought that was soooo coooool! You can read about what people have done by visiting the Bless It Forward Experience link on your right. We plan on doing our part on Friday. I had this grand idea of visiting a battered women's shelter or the like but so turns out that someone we know is struggling badly. We just didn't realize it. So now it's our turn to lend a helping hand to them!

On the photography note! Did some quick portraits for Dallas Family Dentistry to incorporate into the website that I am working on for them. Yestarday, I did some more photography work for Dallas to Dallas Ride for Wet Noses on a billboard in Dallas. Friday will be the day spent getting ready for Jacob & Adeola's wedding which will happen on Saturday. I will be attending the rehearsal & wrap up any loose ends. I always like to visit the place I'll be doing this type of photography before I actually do it.......

Other than that...again, Happy Thanksgiving! God bless!

Launching my blog!!

OK, so this is my blog. First time I've done this myself. I've set them up for other people but not for me! So what will this blog have....hmmmm.

First, I'll talk about my church which is the Church at the Ridge. I'm not what you would call a "bible thumper" as a matter of fact it wasn't until I started going to this church that I've opened a bible. Strange don't you think since I was born and raised Catholic!!! I LOVE this church and the people that make up this wonderful group of people. THIS is what a church should be....a group of people gathering for the love of God & Jesus and supporting each other through this life. If you haven't heard of this church visit www.churchattheridge.com or better yet come to service on Sundays at Austin Middle School at either 9:30 or 11AM! I just finished with my small group called Starting Point which was great! I got to know some other members better & it helped me better understand other views as well as my own. OK...onto the next thought.....

Secondly I'll talk about my business & how it grows. I started my business in April of 2007 & it's been a struggle but one I love. Photography has & always will be a passion of mine. A passion that I hope will impact other people. My long term goal is to provide affordable services & do photography that will impact other people. I hope that I can help people see their own inner beauty and yes lift the souls of those who are lost. Hmmmmm......this is something I've been struggling with. I just envision reaching people through this gift that I've been given & feel the need to do more with it than what I've done. This will no doubt be a big part of this blog as I figure out where things go.

Finally, I'll talk about the different projects as well as different techinques I've learned etc......

Well that's it for now....it is Sunday and that's family day at the McKee's! Take care & until next time....God Bless!
